What is it?

  • Angiotensin- Converting Enzyme (ACE) Inhibitors; Powerful Vasoconstrictor
  • Used For- Reduction in Risk of Stroke, MI and Death, Treatment of Diabetic Neuropathy, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Bartter’s Syndrome, Raynaud’s Syndrome

Side Effects

  • Decreased Blood Pressure, Small Increase in Potassium Levels, Loss of Sodium and Fluid, Rash, Peptic Ulcers, Loss of Appetite, Renal Failure, Increased Urine Output, Cough, Dry Mouth, Mouth Sores, Fever, Chills, Chest Pain, Difficulty Breathing, Swelling of Eyes, Face, Lips, and Tongue

What can I do?

  • See your Health Care Provider- as needed, Treatment of Hypertension, Congestive Heart Failure, Treatment of Stable MI within 24 Hours
  • See your Pharmacist- for help
  • AVOID if- Allergy to Drug, CHF/Congestive Heart Failure, Impaired Kidney Function, Lactation, Pregnancy
  • Small/Frequent Meals if Upset Stomach; Frequent and Good Mouth Care; Do Not Take with Food, Take 1 Hour Before or 2 Hours After Meals
