Toddler Feeding Guidelines
(1 Year Old)
What Foods and Amounts:
*Milk/Cheese - 2 Servings/Day - 1/2 c. Milk or 1/2 oz. Cheese
*Meat (Egg, Lean Meats, Fish, Poultry)- 1 Egg/Day, 2 T. Meats/Day
*Peanut Butter (Smooth)- DO NOT EAT- Choking Hazard
*Vitamin C Rich Foods - See FFF Vitamin C Foods - 1 or more/Day
*Vitamin A Rich Foods - See FFF Vitamin A Foods - 1 or more/Day
*Other Fruits - 1/Day
*Potatoes/Legumes - 2 T./Day
*Vegetables - 1-2 Servings/Day (1 Tablespoon)
*Breads, whole grain, enriched or Cereal, rice, spaghetti- see FFF Lists - 4/Day
*Fats - Try and limit and increase Fruits, Vegetables and other Nutritious Foods
*Desserts and Sweets - Try and choose healthy foods as graham crackers,
vanilla wafers, Angel Food Cake with Fruit
*Amount stated above will vary per individual child, see a
Registered Dietitian for more help- all depend on the child’s caloric needs
to promote normal growth and development
What do I need to do?
*See a Physician
*See FFF Registered Dietitian on line
*See a Registered Dietitian for help with Meal Planning
*Try and eat more meals at home and less out
*Less Fried Foods, Spicy Foods
*Avoid foods child can get chocked on easily - hotdogs, nuts, seeds, popcorn
*Plan 3 nutritious Meals and snacks daily
*DO NOT SKIP BREAKFAST or ANY MEAL or SNACK
