- Common Household Products
- Adhesives- airplane glue, rubber cement, polyvinyl chloride cement
- Aerosols- hair spray, spray paint, air freshener, spray deororant, asthma spray, analgesic spray
- Solvents and Gasses- paint remover, paint thinner, nail polish remover, cigarette lighter fluid, fuel gas, gasoline
- Cleaning Agents- spot remover, degreaser, dry-cleaning fluid
- Others- whipped cream, nitrite room deodorizers
- Uncontrolled- powerful brain depressants, should be used in a well ventilated room; directly inhaled are stronger, may be snorted, sniffed, bagged, cloth soaked (huffing)
- Controlled-STOP
Facts:
- Damage- to brain, liver, lungs, kidneys, heart; prolonged use can cause weakness in the arms and legs that may be permanent; can cause anemia
- Higher Risk of - Young Children or teenagers igniting the fumes with matches, producing a fire that travels to the lungs through the nose and mouth; usually die due to severe burns or inhaled spray coating the lungs preventing oxygen from entering the bloodstream
- Symptoms- drowsy, dizzy, intoxicated, confused, slurred speech, reduced ability to talk and walk; may last a few minutes or > 1 hour, death may occur caused from irregular heartbeat/cardiac arrhythmia, depressed breathing
