• Treats foods with- X-Rays, ultraviolet (UV) or radiation from radioactive materials

Who does it affect?

• Controls- microorganism growth in meat products
• Inhibits- growth of sprouts on potatoes and onions
• Delays ripening in some foods

Do foods have to be labeled?

• Yes, labeled- “treated by irradiation”
