What is used for?
*Remedy for coughs, bronchial congestion/bronchitis, asthma
*Not appropriate for throat irritation- heat destroys the soothing effect
*Can’t use safely due to carcinogenic
*Candy flavoring, extract, syrup, tea
*Smoking Colt’s Foot- for respiratory relief, heat destroys the soothing effect

Signs and Symptoms
*Appetite loss, fever, diarrhea, jaundice, nausea, vomiting, anorexia
*Increased blood pressure, upper respiratory tract infection, allergic reaction
*Mother- newborn with hepatic veno-occlusive disease, liver damage

*Canada- has banned the herb
*Contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids- hepatotoxic, hepatocarcinogenic
*Interferes with- hepatotoxic drugs (damage to liver), cardiovascular drugs,
antihypertensive, alkaloids
