What is it?
*Happy, Safe, Healthy, Fun Meals
*New Foods- introduce 1 per week with other foods child likes
-Child- may not like, continue to serve until taste develops a taste for the food
-Serve well cooked, soft foods
-Encourage canned fruits, vegetables, cheeses, milk instead of sodas, chips,
Fast Foods as fries, pastries, doughnuts
-Desserts- serve after the meal, do not use as a bribe
Suggestions:
*Time- Serve Healthy Meals and Snacks at the same time daily, eating at the
table/sitting, have child positioned correctly at the table (Not to reach for food)
-Dishes- with sides, plastic
-Utensils- childproof, spoons and forks without sharp edges, short/wide
-Cups- small, wide, plastic
Avoid- Child being hungry, tired, eating junk foods before meals, eating in car,
foods with raw eggs, uncooked foods/meats
*Child- let help with meals, make it fun, do not upset child before eating
-let the child set the table for the family
AVOID:
*Hotdogs, raw/hard vegetables and fruits until child is > 3 Years of age
*Playing or Throwing Food
What can I do?
*See your Physician- Use Formula as Physician directs
*See RD for help as needed
*See FFF RD on line for help
*Adult- must be present when child is eating due to accidents, choking
*Help your child to be Healthy for Life
