What is it?
*Cleft Palate- Facial abnormality, Usually Occur together
Cleft lip and Palate, Affects 1 in every 650 Births
-Cleft Lip- incomplete joining of the upper lip, just below the nose
-disfiguring, Cannot Close Lips to hold a Nipple, 1 in 1,000
-Cleft Palate- abnormal passageway through the roof of the mouth
into the Nostril, Problems with Speech, Eating, 1 in 1,800
Another Facial Defect:
*Pierre Robin syndrome/Treacher Collins’ syndrome-
-small lower jaw (mandible)
-difficulty eating
What can I do?
*Permanently- corrected with surgery
*Talk with your Physician
