Facts:
*Common time - early spring, late winter
*Child - 6 colds per year, adult fewer
What are the Symptoms?
*Runny nose, red eyes, sneezing, sore throat, dry cough, headache,
body aches lasting 1 to 2 days
*As progresses nasal mucous thickens - end of the cold
*Cold lasts- about 1 to 2 weeks
What do I need to do?
*See a Physician
*Eat a balanced diet
*Rest- get plenty of sleep
*Avoid people who have colds
*Wash hands frequently
*Cover mouth when cough or sneeze
*Humidify house or bedroom
*DO NOT SMOKE
*Drink plenty of fluids - hot fluids relieve congestion
*Gargle with warm water
*Use disposable tissues - if sore nose use petroleum jelly
