What happens?
*Usually cause a localized reaction (in 1 place) with pain, redness,
swelling and itching
Who does it affect?
*Children, elderly and person with High Blood Pressure
Different Insects/spiders:
*Black widow-2 inches across or smaller, shiny black with a yellow or red
hourglass mark underneath, female may cause nausea, chills, fever, abdominal pain,
difficulty breathing- GET MEDICAL ATENTION ASAP!!
*Brown Recluse-smaller then black widows with long legs, brown with violent
shaped marks on their heads, bite = intense pain with a blister then a large open
sore developing into nausea, headache, vomiting and chills-Get Medical Attention ASAP!
*Bee sting-scrap to remove stinger
What are the Symptoms?
*Severe skin reactions
* Shock
*Hives, don’t scratch can cause an infection
*Short of breath, tightness in the chest or throat, dizziness
*Wheezing or swelling of the face or tongue
What do I need to do?
*See a Physician immediately
*Wear white, light colored fabrics
*No perfumes, use insect repellent with DEET
*Wear gloves, tuck pants into socks
*Wash with soap and water then apply ice to bites
*Benadryl to relieve itching, swelling and pain
*External Herbs- as a wash/compress are aloe vera, echinacea, comfrey,
lobelia, witch hazel
*Bee Stings- use baking soda, Wasp- use vinegar, lemon juice, remove stinger,
crushed charcoal, clay paste
