What is it?
*Pink Eye- Conjunctivitis, inflammation of the membranes that lines the
surface of the eye and the eyelid
*Causes- Viruses/Bacteria (may be contagious), dry air, smoke, fumes, chemicals,
dust, mold, animal dander, pollen, allergies (have to remove the irritating substance)
Signs and Symptoms:
*Pink Eye- red/swollen eyelids, itching, burning, redness in the whites of the eye,
sensitive to light, feels like sand in the eye, usually a discharge at night,
 like glue that sticks the eye together
Medications:
*Pink Eye- antibiotic ointment or eyedrops, if discharge is green or yellow
-get on the eyelash, it will melt into the eye
*Compresses- Warm or Cool as needed
Facts:
*AVOID- sharing towels, pillows, makeup, eyeshadow, contact lens equipment
*Clear Up- 5-7 Days, can last several weeks

*See your Physician
*See RD for help as needed *See FFF RD on line for help
*ALWAYS- WASH YOUR HANDS before and after treating pink eye
*Eye Goggles- when dealing with chemicals, follow directions
AVOID- Makeup, contacts, mascara, any irritant
do not reuse above stated after an eye infection , throw away makeup,
clean all contact lens equipment
*Rest- your eyes often, take short breaks, close your eyes
-AVOID- SMOKE, EYE IRRITANTSPink Ee
