Common Drugs Used:
*Antabuse- if mixed with alcohol causes flushing, nausea/vomiting,
low blood pressure
*Bromocriptine- (Parlodel) nausea/vomiting, constipation
*Naltrexone- decreased the pleasure sensation of alcohol, used for detoxification
for narcotic dependency, abdominal cramping/pain, anorexia, weight loss,
nausea/vomiting
*Stool Softeners- if constipation, seen with cocaine abuse
*Tricyclic antidepressants- (imipramine, desipramine), dry mouth
Facts:
*Higher total and HDL (High Density Lipoproteins/Good Cholesterol)
Cholesterol- CHD (Cardiovascular Heart Disease) with heavy drinkers

*See your Physician
*Talk with RD about labs, diet, nutrients, fiber, fluids
*See FFF RD on line for help with meal planning, intake, supplements,
Avoid caffeine, eating 3 meals and snacks daily

*Recovery Unit- taking responsibility of actions, family therapy, support
group interaction, maintenance of abstinence, coping skills for control,
helplessness, increase decision making to build self confidence/esteem
*Avoid diet pills, starving to decrease weight
*Monitor fluids, electrolytes to prevent dehydration
*Adequate protein without overloading
